Simufact Engineering, a subsidiary of MSC Software, is a leading global provider of metal forming, joining and metal additive manufacturing simulation software and related services to manufacturing industries. Our product suite Simufact Welding is a customized software solution for welding simulation and offers the user a reliable structural welding simulation. Simufact Welding realistically predicts distortions and residual stresses that occur during welding and helps to minimize them in the components while taking into account microstructural changes. Finite Element calculations are suitable for modeling the elastic-plastic material behavior and, thus, also for simulating welding structure. The simulation software package is used worldwide by manufacturing companies large & small. It is extremely robust and fast, which is needed to provide timely results and impact the design phase. The software is easy to use, allowing process design engineers to optimize the manufacturing process on the computer prior to a physical tryout.
Simulation with Simufact Welding 6
One of the most important novelties in the new simulation software is the addition of simplified calculation methods, which allow significantly shorter calculation times for thermal and thermal-mechanical welding processes. This enabled the software to pave the way for the simulation of longer welding seams, multiple welding points and larger, more complex assemblies to be calculated within a practical simulation time.
Simulation of ARC / Beam Welding
The new product version Simufact Welding 6 expands the range of process types that can be simulated to include brazing and stress relief, as well as now being able to differentiate between the methods of electron beam welding and laser beam welding. All of these new process types are on top of the processes of arc welding and resistance spot welding already available in the software.
Simufact Resistance Spot Welding
In addition to simulating arc welding and laser beam
welding the current version Simufact Welding 6
also covers Resistance Spot Welding (RSW). RSW is a
widely employed joining technology in automotive
industry and their suppliers. Simufact´s RSW software
covers both the simulation of the welding processes
and the welding structures.
